I had a similar situation like yours in 2006, but I was renewing my student visa. My application was successful.

The UKBA wrote to me asking for notarized bank statements. But that was back then, and we are in 2012 (where capping net migration is a policy objective of David Cameron's Coalition Government), and your application type is PSW where proof of funds by bank statement is a must-have qualification without which your application would be rejected.

Wish that the UKBA write back asking for the bank statements otherwise a strict caseworker might file it for rejection.

I encourage you to send originals of your bank statements, making sure you have consistently held a minimum deposit of £800 in your account for the last three months. Do send those bank statements before the casework arrives at a decision to your PSW application.
