Dear all,
I need your opinion on this matter, I am a British citizen, my wife hold ILR, we applied for a joint JSA today, but the staff (a man and then a lady) were not very helpful at all, they have given us the impression that it is unlikely we will get JSA benefits because I am studying a part time course (only 8 hours per whole week), and my wife studying english (ESOL) course and this is only for 6 hours per whole week. Now I hoped that they will understand that we are attending these courses to improve our chances to get a job in the future, however, the outcome was opposite, I mean they said that these courses MIGHT interfere with job applications, and therefore, it very unlikely we will get a JSA approval. I think this is really not fair, I mean I have worked and paid taxes over the last 10 years, and when I need a bit of support they come up with this issue. Even after we have told them that we are ready to do any sort of job even during the course time itself ( I guess they want us to gave up on these important courses and we have no options but to do so), but they still have told us that we need to fill couple of forms regarding education, they also put the decision on hold and sent it to a hight panel decision making according to them, we were told it might take up to 6 weeks, we will not get any benefits during these 6 weeks time, but we still need to sign regularly every 2 weeks, and at the end of waiting period we will receive decision, which according to that lady will be negative most likely because we have said we were studying when we have applied today. Now I do not understand, is this really fair? what options we have, what steps we could take, your opinion would be very helpful. Thanks.
