Public Funds

Post by Aku14 » Thu Feb 13, 2014 10:14 pm

Hi all
I am a Tier 2 visa holder and my wife as a Tier 2 dependant. My wife is currently a student and since she enrolled into a full time student, our council tax has been based on one adult person. Since our visas have ‘No recourse to public funds’ and our council tax has been based on one adult person, have we breached the immigration rules? I know that for some Council tax discounts, such as sole occupancy discounts, are not considered public funds for the purposes of the Immigration Rules. We have ILR applications to make soon.
I'll really appreciate a quick response.
Many thanks
AK

No that's fine as she's exempt from council tax if she's got an exemption certificate as a student. You'd get a 25% discount.
