EEA FP Claiming Benefits

Post by Vecchi » Tue Mar 31, 2015 9:21 pm

Hello,

I'm a non-EU on an EEA FP and wife is from Netherlands. We are living on UK, I’m working on London and she is taking care of our baby (not working, never worked on UK).

I have doubts whether I should apply for the EEA2 as wife being self-sufficient or as worker. The last case would be harder, because she would first need to get a part-time job, and work at night.

The main question is, can we ask for benefits, such as Child Benefit? Will this be a problem to my EEA2 request? If I ask for the EEA2 as self-sufficient, will this make impossible to ask for any benefit? And should I ask for benefit just after the EEA2 is ready?

And lastly, would any of those claims be a problem for the PR?

Thank you!
