Are you a British citizen or ILR holder?cgame wrote:i have a 2 yr old child and wife who has come over on a settlement visa.. how do i go about registering them and how do i claim child benefit.
You should most certainly tell them you have a partner, if as I suspect the two of you live together. Not only that, the Tax Credits claim must be in joint names. It could amount to benefit fraud if the two of you live together and you try to claim Tax Credits in your sole name.Should i claim tax credit as single parent or tell HM that i have a partner?
or as if you are in a civil partnership.
No one is suggesting that you claim to be married, when indeed you are not. However, for the purpose of making claims for benefits, it makes no difference whether you are married to the person you are living with, or living together unmarried. But what i dont understand is, am i allowed to call myself married and claim to have a partner until im legally married in UK?
Do also claim Child Benefit!I have just checked my entilements here and looks like i can claim child tax credit without any problem as im working.
When you are indeed married it will do no harm to tell DWP about that.Should i inform DWP that im married as when i applied for NINO i told them i was single coz i wanted to wait until i get COA and then get married.
