Claiming UC

Post by abacus123 » Thu Nov 27, 2025 7:06 pm

Good Evening respected Members,
Hope you are well. I am British citizen working as well and claiming universal credit. My wife is not working and she is on FLRM. She will apply for ILR in March 2027.
As I am claiming Universal credit and I am worried that whether it will impact her ILR application.
Please note that only I am claiming universal credit and my wife is not claiming any benefit as she is on FLRM.
Kind regards,
Abacus

If you are claiming benefits you are entitled to, that will not affect your spouse’s immigration application. You cannot use your UC towards the financial requirement for SET(M) unless you are only required to show adequate maintenance and accommodation eg because you get PIP.
