Advice Please - Got ILR - Few questions on Benefits

Dear Friends,

Posting this as I didn't find direct answers to a couple of questions I have.

I, my wife and my 5 months old baby got ILR last week (10th Nov 2010) and now, I am planning to get Child benefit.
Prior to 10th Nov 2010, I was on Tier-2 (ICT) visa and hence I and my dependent didn't have any recourse to pubic funds and I didn't claim any.
My questions are:
a) Normally, HMRC pays CB retrospectively upto 3 months before once you claim. So, if I claim now, does it mean CB would be paid effective from August 2010? I don't think so because I became eligible to get CB only after my ILR i.e after 10th Nov 2010 and I don't want to claim either. But, on the form there is no provision for me to mention this. Please confirm.
b) What other benefits can I get? Working tax benefits etc? My Gross annual income is £46K and my wife isn't working.
Please suggest.

I can answer your 1st question. You will be paid child benefit from the week you got ILR. In the form it asks when you got ILR. So you have 3 months to make this claim as they can back date 'up to' three months.

b) based on your pay you can only get child/working tax credit, however you can get Job seeking allowance JSA if you loose your job which is subject to various conditions.
