Hello,
I'm a US citizen married to a Swedish citizen. I hold a EEA2. Both my husband and I work and live in the UK. I'm currently 4 months pregnant, due in the end of May next year.
I'm currently receiving NHS care and will apply for Maternity Allowance in mid-February. I plan to start receiving MA in late April, which is a month before my due date. I believe the current MA is £129 per week for 39 weeks.
My questions evolve around a couple of different scenarios which my husband and I are considering. Depending on UK rules, then we can hopefully make a better informed decision. Anything helps and thanks in advance!
Option 1
Around two months after childbirth, my husband and I move back to Sweden (we both used to live and work there prior moving to UK). I will continue my maternity leave for 6-9 months (and afterwards start working full-time in Sweden). My husband will work full-time Sweden. Is it possible to continue to receive MA from UK for the full 39 weeks?
Option 2
Around two months after childbirth, my husband and I will move back to Sweden. I will continue my maternity leave for 6-9 months (and afterwards start working full-time in Sweden). My husband will continue to work full-time for his UK job while based in Sweden. Is it possible to continue to receive MA from UK for the full 39 weeks?
Thanks,
Candice
