How to claim retirement pension

Post by Nadiae30 » Sat Aug 13, 2016 12:24 pm

Hi,
I have worked in the UK for 6 years and I'd like to know I I am entitled to retirement pension. I left the country now, and I want to claim for it.
Can you tell me how to do ?
Thanks a lot

Have you paid into the kitty?
Do you qualify for a pension? (How old are you?)

The link is for Northern Ireland, it would only be relevant if the OP was based in NI.

OP, what was or is your UK immigration status?

Good catch. I assumed ni... meant "national insurance".

Here's a generic link https://www.gov.uk/state-pension/how-to-claim

Depends.

It's 30 years contributions for the full state pension. Have you contributed to a state pension?

According to :-

https://www.gov.uk/new-state-pension

-:
You’ll usually need 10 qualifying years to get any new State Pension.
On this webpage :-

https://www.gov.uk/new-state-pension/eligibility

-: it gives more detail.

It's 35 years now for a full state pesnion, for those that reach state pension age from 6 April 2016. At least 10 years needed for a part pension.

There were a few years when it was just 30 years for all and just 1 year got a part pension.

Prior to that, it was 39 years for a female and 44 years for a male. 10 years minimum needed for a part pension.

What group you fall into depends on your DoB.
