Urgent - Tier2 ICT Short Term to Tier2 ICT Long Term

I have been searching many forums to get information on this query however none of the forum has this. It will be a great help to get this info.

I am in UK on Tier2 ICT short term visa and need help to know below, provided my sponsor/employer is willing for it :

1)is its possible to apply for Tier2 ICT Long Term when I am currently in UK itself on short term visa (short term visa has not yet expired)?
2) Is it compulsory to go back to resident country and then apply new ICT Long Term Visa from there?
3) Can Long Term Visa be only applied after currently active Short Term Visa has expired?
