On Tier 2 and getting married - should I switch to SET(M)?

Post by jojo84 » Thu Jul 10, 2014 12:08 pm

Hello,
I am currently in Tier 2 general since Jan 13. I am getting married at the end of this year to a British citizen. In terms of saving time and money, should I switch to a spouse visa SET(M)? Can I combine the 2 years of Tier 2 with 3 years as a spouse to apply for ILR? Does the spouse visa reset the 5 years required for ILR? Or should I just stick to Tier 2, apply for extension in Jan 16 and get ILR in Jan 18?
Any help / advice will be appreciated!
Thank you

You cannot apply using Set M. That is for ILR applications based on married. If you apply using FLR (M), your clock will reset. You cannot combine time between PBS and family routes. It is up to you - would you rather be tied to your employer or spouse? You aren't that far into your Tier 2 clock anyway...
