Help Required before filling ILR

Hi

I landed in UK in August 2009 , went back in Mar 2010 but then again came back on same visa in Dec 2010. Till then all extensions have happened on same visa. I am meeting solicitor this week to check on my eligibility but before i go to him, i have two questions if somebody can help me with

1. I am planning to apply ILR only for myself. IS there a requirement to maintain something substantial in my bank account. Unfortunately, i need to spend some money to my country in June, so my account was negative for about 2 weeks. But after that i am maintaining on average 1000 pounds per month

2. India trips: I have made some trips outside UK which were not official. My employer is not willing to issue letters for my absence. Are there letters really important for applying ILR
