Regarding Travel to India close to Tier 2 visa expiry

Post by rrr517 » Mon Sep 08, 2014 5:08 pm

Hi,
I am currently on Tier 2 visa sponsored by my company that terminated my job last week and made my role redundant. My Tier 2 visa sponsored by them ends on Oct 25, 2014. I found another job that is ready to sponsor me but waiting for 28 days before it can apply for sponsorship license. I am expecting this renewal of Tier 2 visa extension application to happen sometime in 2nd week of October.

So my worry is if I were to travel to India say 15 September until October 5th in my current visa which is to expire October 25, Can I still enter UK on October 5th ? Or will UKBA not let me in because I am no longer working with the company that sponsored the visa ?

Once you stop working for your sponsor, he is required to report it to home office within 10 days. You will then have 60 days or your visa expiry date whichever is earlier, to find another job or leave UK. In your case, you have found another sponsor before your visa expires. You wil have to apply for visa switch.

However, once the HO is reported of the termination, you can travel out of UK but cannot enter using the same visa (since logically, your visa has been cancelled by HO).
