Switch from Tier 4 to tier 2 ,dependent clarification

Hi All,

I have a difficult situation here.

I am currently on Tier 4 visa and my wife and child is tier 4 dependents.

I got a sponsorship form my company and my wife also got the sponsor from her company. I am switching from Tier 4 (student) to Tier 2 General and my wife from Tier 4 dependent to Tier 2 General and my child from Tier 4 dependent to Tier 2 general dependent(under my wife)

My generated CoS on July 9 but for my wife is only on August. So my wife made the application for Switch on Aug 29 , still waiting for response from UKBA

Do I need to wait for my wife's application resoponse for UKBA or can I apply for switch (tier 4 to tier2)before that , as my CoS going to expire soon
