Tier2 ICT to Tier2 General Visa (Dependant)

Dear Admins,

I am on a Tier 2 ICT long term visa since May'2010 and now want to switch to Tier 2 General. Below are my queries:

a) How long can i get Tier 2 general visa?
b) Is it better to get Tier 2 general for my wife and i become dependant?
c) If my wife (who is currently on my dependant visa) becomes main applicant, do I also need to travel back to india to convert my visa?
d) Which option will be more advantageous to get ILR in the long run?
e) Any other disadvantanges

nb: My kids are going to school from Feb'2011.

When did you apply for your initial T2 ICT entry clearance? The date of application is the date you paid the visa fee.

I dont remember the application date, but COS Date of issue is : 26-Apr-2010

your choice but she would have to apply from India

it will be 5 years from the time you or your wife get the T2G visa
e) Any other disadvantanges
the T2G job has to be NQF level 6 with appropriate salary
nb: My kids are going to school from Feb'2011.
