tier 2 general dependent - urgent request

This is bit urgent if someone can help.
A firm is applying tier-2 general for myself.. Can we apply tier-2 general dependent for my spouse and kid ourselves or have to get it through the firm?

It is always better to apply for the dependents at the same time as the main applicant. Hence, what you can do is, fill in the forms/documents and give these to them and ask them to send it with your documents.
You can also apply for dependents leave after you have secured your visa, however, u need to apply for dependents before their current leave expires.

The above is considering you are applying for extension, within UK.
If this is first application from outside, u can apply separately after your leave has been approved.

so,
currently on tier 2 ict dependent, my spouse and kid on tier 2 ict
my firm is applying tier 2 general and i will make an application from home country
my spouse and my kid will change the visa category from tier 2 ict to tier 2 general (spouse) / tier 2 ict dependent to tier 2 general dependent (kid)
