Tier 2 (General) Shortage Occupation

Post by wali2k2 » Mon Jun 08, 2015 2:22 pm

Hi,

I made a Tier 2 (General) Shortage Occupation application using the online form on 8th April 2015. I paid a fee of £856 (£428 for main and £428 for dependant) as asked in the online form. After having submitted the application and supporting documents, I recieved the biometric enrolement letter in a couple of weeks time. I enrolled my biometrics, but received another letter from the home office after 4 weeks stating that I have paid the wrong fees and so my application is invalid. The letter asks for additional payment of £446 (i-e total payment of £651 each for main and dependant). I have made the payment, but I am confused as to why I was asked for more payment. The website clearly states that the fee for shortage occupations is still £428, not £651. The only reason that comes to mind is that the home office has some how made a mistake and are not treating the application as a shortage occupation. My certifiate of sponsorship also clearly mentions that my job is in shortage occupation. My application form also clearly indicates in the relavant section that the job is in shortage list.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

I should also point out that the SOC code for my job (Bioinformatician) seems to have changed from the 6th of April (i-e two days before I applied). Previously it was under 2119, which is the code on my CoS. However the latest SOC list published on 6 April does not have 2119. My job is still there in the new list, but code has changed to 2425.
