I do not know the criterion to decide if the offered job is classified as shortage occupation or not.
The job title is "KTP Associate, Waste and Energy Research Engineer", but my background is in chemical and process engineering, which is in the shortage occupation list (6 April 2015) as:

2127-Production and Process Engineers->Chemical Engineer

When paying the Fee should I pay for a Shortage Occupation [Tier 2 General-(up to 3 years)]?

I will receive the Certificate of Sponsor soon, but last one I had (from my current employer) did not specify anything about non-shortage or shortage occupation.

Tier 2 to Tier 2-switch, extend or normal application?

Hi! In the gov.uk website it says that if you apply in the UK:

"You can ONLY extend your existing visa or switch to this visa if you’re already in the UK".

I understand that: "switch" is from OTHER visa type into Tier 2 (General) and "extend" is when your previous Tier 2 (General) has been expired. However I want to change sponsor therefore will be from Tier 2 (General) to another Tier 2 (General), just with different sponsor. Shall I just go through the normal application route I followed the 1st time I applied for the Tier 2? [that first time I was actually "switching" from tier 4 into Tier 2]

1. Your job responsibilities determine the SOC code, not your background or education. It is for your employer to decide which SOC code is best suited for the job they are hiring you for.

2. You are extending your leave in the UK (with a new sponsor).

if you had Tier 2 visa before and RLMT was exempted because of T4 to T2

now if you change employer or change job role with same employer. you sponsor needs to conduct RLMT before issuing you the COS
