Tier 2 ICT Cooling off period

Hi, I'm on a Tier 2 ICT Long Term Visa that was issued in August 2013. My visa is up for renewal in August 2016. Would it be considered as a valid cooling off period if I continue to be employed by my current employer (in the UK) but work (be located) outside the UK for a year and then apply for a Tier 2 General Visa with the same employer ?
