Changing Employer Tier 2 Visa

Hi there,

I am currently on a Tier 2 visa (which I had since 2013) and have an offer to change employer starting in August 2017 but my employer also has a 3 months notice. I would like some advice on the following matters:
> Would you recommend me waiting to get my new visa before resigning (I don't want to take a risk as I wouldn't want to lose my job and not get the new one)
> If I have a new visa, am I still allowed to work for my current employer and for how much longer?
> Has anyone been through this process and could please explain the process in full?
