Tier 2 visa extension and Criminal record from homeland

Hi,
Could anybody help me with my queries please?
Do I need criminal record certificate from my homeland when I am applying for extension?
Can it be an online printout with a barcode on it where visa officers will be able to see if it is genuine or not?

I am answering my own query: you do not need a criminal record certificate for extension.
