Tier 2: dependent vis

Post by apoorva2190 » Thu Sep 26, 2019 2:25 am

My husband is currently working in UK on tier 2 visa for 1 year and 6 months have already passed...I need to join him only for 5 months...so can I go visit him on standard visit visa or I have to get dependent Visa?

This is tricky. There are no real guidelines here AFAIK.

I have known people whose spouses visit visa was refused and were asked to apply dependent. But they were in ILR which makes more sense.

Now how long is your hubby's visa valid. ? You apply for visit visa with a short itinerary and also explain you don't want dependent visa or pay IHS fee for short visit. Try to explain your circumstances in a letter. I would do this way.

All above is my opinion only.
