TAKING ON ADDITIONAL WORK

Post by CheriMini » Wed May 17, 2023 3:22 pm

Hello,

I kindly need your advice please.

On the GOV website for Health and Care Worker visa under additional work, it mentions that:

Taking on additional work
You can do additional paid work on a Health and Care Worker visa as long as you’re still doing the job you’re being sponsored for. You can also do unpaid voluntary work.

You may need to apply to update your visa to do additional paid work. This will depend on the type of work you’re doing and the hours you’re going to work.

Work you can do without updating your visa
If your extra job is also eligible for a Health and Care Worker visa you can work as many hours as you like without updating your visa.

If your job is not eligible for a Health and Care Worker visa, you can still work up to 20 hours a week if the job is in a shortage occupation

I understand this is until 26th of August 2023.

I want to take on a second job with a hospital that is under SOC 6141 which is eligible for HCW visa. So with the update on the website I had hoped to do more than 20 hours by doing 2 long days there a week which adds to 24 hours.

However, when checking my right to work it still says I can only work upto 20 Hours a week in a job that's either in same code or shortage occupation list.

Does the update on the website only apply to some people and not others? Did others receive a letter or email from the Home Office about this update?

I have asked around the very few people on HCW that I know and they are doing second jobs more than 20 hours because of what the website says but I'm worried of the future legal implications of this.

All 4 did not receive an email.or letter to say they could now do more than 20hours a week etc.

One said they called UKVI and were told to get a immigration advisor to write a letter for them to give second employer to say they can work more than 20hours a week in the qualifying job until August based on website. I don't know how such a letter from an independent body would be legally binding.

Does anyone know the standing of the additional work update on the website? Can you apply it to yourself even if its not showing on your right to work check?
