Can't Find Occupation Code

Post by Raian » Thu Mar 21, 2024 11:28 pm

Hi all,

My employer wants to sponsor me. I am working as a bid specialist and am responsible for the overall tendering activities of the company. However, they are not sure which occupation codes they should select for my role. Is it going to be 1133 - Purchasing Managers and Directors or 3545 - Sales Accounts and Business Development Managers or 3541 - Buyers and Procurement Officers?

Please help me out. Thanks.

Kind regards,
Raian.

Only your employer can decide which SOC they are willing to use. They have to look at your specific job description and match it on a best fit basis. Obviously there is not a one size fits all solution for more niche roles.
If they really get stuck they can have a look here

Thanks for your reply. My employer needs to select the SOC code. However, the problem is, the descriptions and tasks mentioned in the resources you shared and on the gov.uk website are from the buyer's perspective. A Bid Manager in a company is on the supplier's side and is responsible for the overall tendering activities of the company. This is why the confusion is happening. Any thoughts on this? Thanks.

From a very general perspective a job title is a job title. If I said I was a bid manager regardless of the supply or tender process I am a bid manager. I think there is a bit of over thinking perhaps?

Personally - go the SOC that has the highest rate for the job 😀

Haha... Probably. I mean they are saying the instruction says we need to match the exact job description but not the job title. If it's overthinking, I'm good. :D Thanks for your reply mate.

It is best match, not exact match, if that helps
