Timeline from approval of Certificate of Sponsorship

Post by beever » Fri Jan 30, 2009 3:31 pm

Dear Learned members,
please could you let me know what is the timeframe from the date the Certificate of Sponsorship is being approved to the time the Tier 2 is being granted at the Home Office?
FYI - my new employer is applying for a Tier 2 (further leave to remain) as I was previously on WP.

Many thanks

I got an updated timelines from CoS - Tier2 approval is 4-5weeks now.. earlier it was told just 1-2weeks... so plan yourselves based on this...

Did your company have the Sponser License? and did they get you the CoS??

Hey thanks tvn_ramesh!
Yes they already advertised for it to satisfy the resident labour test and is A rated sponsor, already getting the CoS. I was just wondering from the time I submit my docs to homeoffice how long that would take as I cannot afford to be out of job for too long.

What about you? are you on tier 1? if i was told it's 4-5weeks and also the resident labour test, i would have definitely gone for tier 1 straight as i do meet the points but what's done is done now...

thanks ramesh

Yes, now whats done is done.. and i advice you to get your Tier2 visa done if you are sure that your company needs you despartely and there is no job loss scare. because once you get your Teir2 approved and stamp and the next day week or month your company removes you than you are in trouble that you shd leave the country in the next 28days.. I AM NOT SCARING YOU.. just giving you a broader pic...

on the +ve side, now your company has SLicense A grade.. and u got Cert. of SPonsership.. there is very very minimal chance you get rejected as long as you have filled the applicaiton properly and provided the evidence...

i am on WP due to expire this quarter.. so i have a chance to play n try for Tier1 before going for company Tier2..

Hi,
Sure, although it is done by the solicitors and the HR of my newco so my timeline will be quite vague!
Resident labour test completed on 27 January 09
Certificate of sponsorship obtained on 2 February 09
Application submitted to Home Office on 6 February 09
Passports received by solicitors on 4 March 09

Also, I asked for my bank to print out bank statements on their letter headed paper and for 2-3 days the balance fell below £800 although I managed to obtain a letter of maintenance support from my sponsor (A-rated).

Hope this helps. I'm still very chuffed and praise GOD!
