UK Skilled worker dependent Visa Transfer

Post by SB25 » Mon Feb 03, 2025 8:54 pm

Dear Team,

I am writing to inquire about the transfer of our Skilled Worker Dependent visas.

My visa application for myself and my children was approved in January 2024. The visa, valid for three years until December 2026, was issued with a vignette (sticker) on my passport that expired in March 2024.

Due to unforeseen family circumstances, we were unable to travel to the UK within the vignette's validity period.

We are now ready to travel and are exploring the options for transferring the visa. I would appreciate your guidance on the following:
  • Is it permissible to apply for a vignette transfer after a year of the initial vignette's issuance?
  • Are we required to submit any supporting documentation to explain the reasons for our delayed travel?
  • What is the typical process for vignette transfer applications? Can I expect a straightforward approval, or will there be further checks or inquiries from the case officer regarding our delayed travel? For that any additional documents to be submitted ?
I would be grateful for your expert advice on this matter.

Thanks, SB

Not an expert on the specifics of your case but haven't you applied/registered for an eVisa?
Physical documents have been phased out ....

Thanks very much for suggesting the eVisa. We managed to validate them, and they are valid until December 2026 as submitted.

What is the current process after visa application approval?

* Is it still necessary to submit the passport and get the sticker (vignette) on the passport after approval?
* If so, do we need to travel within 90 days after receiving the vignette?
* Will the visa be stamped by Immigration once we land in the UK?

Or is it simply showing the shared code/online status?

This may give visibility about our next steps. Thanks again.

Thanks, SB

At the departure airport airline will check your online status to enable boarding and at the UK border entry point they will scan your passport, status is linked to the passport. No vignettes or passport stamps.
