Switching from student dependent visa to Tier 2

Being a student dependent visa holder, I am currently employed legally. My employer is offering to apply Tier 2 visa for me.

I want to know whether I can switch from student dependent visa to tier 2 from UK if not then Can i Swtich from Home country that is India
