Husband on Tier 1, Spouse on Tier 2 (Dependent)- possible?

My wife and I are in UK on Tier 2 VISA (for over 2 years), and am planning to make the shift to Tier 1, however I just realised that we need a min maintenance of funds for the dependent as well, so can my wife remain on Tier 2 (dependent) while I move to Tier 1? If yes, will it affect if I switch jobs (since Tier 2 is dependent on the employer)? FYI - the Tier 2 visa is valid till 2012. Kindly let me know. Thanks,

as you mentioned T2 visa is company dependent so once you switch to T1 and informed your employer - the mostly like chance of t2 visa cancellation is very high so will mean your wife will have no legal right to be here in the UK unless both of you switch to T1 (her as your dependant).
