Changing my designation on Work Permit Visa

Hi All
I work in a financial organisation and have a work permit (not PBS Tier 2) visa which was issued to me by my company. Now I am being promoted in this company and this promotion will give me a new department, new salary, new contract and new designation. Before being promoted, I got a query from my company HR department that I need to inform the home office about it and if they agree, then the promotion will go ahead.
What I would like to know is what is the procedure for it and will I get a new visa or anything else. Any help will be appriciated.

I understand the work permit (not PBS Tier 2) Visa states in the

Obsvr : Work (and any changes) must me authorised..

so i would suggest to contact HO by phone or email and get this thing cleared and also ask them the procedure...

1. Wen u work permit expires?
2. U might hav to apply under Tier 2 General and pass all the tests but it depends on the length of u current visa.
3. Even under the old scheme u need to inform HO for any changes.
4. As sumbody said above get in touch with HO and clear up these things.

My work permit expires in Jan 2013. I was given a 5 year work permit. I dont want to apply for Tier 2 as it would be a long procedure. I had a hard time getting a work permit when the company applied for it. It was a nightmare. Thats why I dont want to switch to Tier 2.
As it was said that "Work (and any changes) must be authorised".
Thats what I want to know, the procedure?. Does anyone have the knowledge for this change procedure?. Otherwise I then need to delay my promotion until I have further knowledge. I need to have your expert knowledge before I talk to the home office. The HO are a real headache and even then it takes a very long time to get a correct answer.

You contact HO o phone or email them as somebody because what they say it good to have to compare or confirm with other experts say here..

I don't think you need to go through ALL TESTS as somebody said you have Valid WP VISA till 2013... don't get stressed.. this email/phone to HO will give u more info..

Hi, Just see the link below you do not have to go on tier 2 if you do not want to I got promoted and changed my office for my employer while on work permit and employer have to send a form for technical changes to UKBA It just took a week in my case
