New born baby born to WP holder in UK

I am on WP expiring aug 6 2011. My wife wil be joining me in mid of feb on dependent visa. She is preganat and expecting the baby in may end. Once the baby is born from where i can get his/her birth certificate and how can he/she travel back with us. Do i need to apply for indian passport or we have to follow some other process. In addition how much the process takes , as my project might end in end of June and i might need to travel back to india by end of june.
