Hi, My wife currently has a tier 2 work permit/visa which will expire soon, and I am a dependent off this. As she can not extend her visa we had intended to have a quick trip back to Australia to change me to skilled migrant Tier 1 (general) with her as my dependent so we can continue with our UK jobs. The new quotas have really ruined these plans as I can not risk going back to Australia and getting stuck for a couple of months as I will lose my good job here. Although it seems from April 2011 there is no chance to get a Tier 1! Does anyone know if my company is happy to sponsor me as a Tier 2, (which they are happy to do as I do specialized engineering), can we apply from here in the UK so I can change my status from Tier 2 dependent to Tier 2 visa/work permit while still working?
