Tier 2 limits after April

Post by fibreman » Thu Dec 30, 2010 4:39 pm

Hi people,

I have a question... it is said the new limits will not apply to people in UK for Tier 2. Does that mean COS is unlimited for in country applicants for Tier 2?

Who is an in country applicant? Are applicants with students visas considered here? Or does this apply only to extensions?

I am primarily interested how new rules will affect those on student visa here and and those already on PSW. Would they be out of limit, then?

anyone who makes an application, while he/she is in uk, is termed as an in-country applicant.

students, in tier 4, can switch immigration category to tier 2 provided their leave as student is not expired.

no, there will certainly not be "unlimited" COS for in-country applicants when long-term limit is introduced!

yes its true that "new limits dont apply to in-country applicants(atleast tier 2- general)"...

before you get too excited, the catch is, they have applied the limit on employers etc. in terms of how many COS they can issue. so as an applicant, you would require COS and UKBA is not giving COS(to employers) freely.

Thank you... but do we know how the system will work exactly after april?

I've read that cases will be discussed each month, and even that COS won't be assigned as now... beforehand to companies. And that where there are limits, they will rank applications etc.

Otherwise, what's the point of unlimited inside applications? You need COS, so any other limits/no limits don't matter. Is the way the system works going to change?

dont know where you reading this stuff from and why are you foolish enough to believe it. there is no point speculating on it right now as it would just cause more confusion.

the system, i would say, will not be MUCH different than it is right now, atleast for tier 2 general COS.

here you go, i have jut speculated with absolute no proof whatsoever :) take it or leave it. (i advise you to "leave it" incase you didnt get my point :)

Sorry, I'm not believing anything atm... just trying to find some certain info, as some info out there is not clear.

When it says limit will not apply to... it lists in country applicants, intra company transfer, over 150k salary and so on. it is not clear for which of these categories limits will apply and in what way.For instance, for 150k+ people you still need cos... in which case limits apply to all of them, including intra company tr.

It makes no sense to speak about no limits if you limit cos... this is what I am wondering.
