Applying for Tier 2 (company not registered)

Hi, I have worked for my current employer for 1 year++ under my PSW. and now I've been offered another job (same sector) but the new employer is not registered to employ immigrant like me.

They told me that they have done the background check with their company lawyer and are eligible to apply work permit for me. Trouble is they said will take 5-6 months to register and apply work permit for me?? how long is the process normally? My PSW ending next year aug and ideally I would like to switch asap, because immigration rules keep changing!

I'm kinda in a dillema here because current employer willing to switchover my PSW visa to tier2 (general) for me. let me know.

There are two steps to applying for sponsorship.

-Registering your company in UKBA online portal
-Sending the supporting documents

After sending the documents it takes 45 days provided the documents are in place and according to UKBA's requirements. For my company it took 28 days I have seen in this forum for some it has taken even esser time.

The period of six months mentioned by your new employer might be something internal, not UKBA processing time.

thanks for the info. I'll question them why the 5-6 months? Maybe they are thinking of switching my PSW -> tier2, this process is easier probably compared to applying for a fresh work permit for me.
