Can I travel while my application failed

I cannot find any post who similar to my situation here.
I do appreciated if you can give me some ideas.

The situation is:
My PSW already expired (1 Dec 2011) and I might get refusal for my Tier 2 application, although I have not received anything back ( biometric done at 16 Nov).
If my passport back but the result is negative, can i travel outside the UK for a week and come back to re-apply again?

What will be the process for application refusal?

If your application is refused and your leave expired in the process, then, assuming you made an in time application, you should get a right of appeal. If you leave the UK without appealing then you will not be able to re-enter the UK, as your leave will have expired. If you leave the UK whilst the appeal is in process the appeal will be treated as abandoned.

Thank you for your advice.

I've been waiting my passport back for over 5 weeks. I finished my biometric on 16 Nov and now is 20 Dec.
I donot know what I can do and just full of negative feelings. I really fed up this waiting time.
