Regarding Cos start date - Tier 2 general

Post by rajesh.popat » Thu Jan 05, 2012 11:23 am

Hello,

I have made an application for tier 2 general category on 22 Dec 2011.

The start date on the Cos is 16 Jan 2012 and as currently my application is under process at BHC. I am concerned if everything would be in place prior to 16th.

Please can you advise if I need to be in UK prior to the start date as mentioned in the Cos or I can travel anytime after visa is issued. Also please suggest if anything specific I need to take care of prior to my travel to UK apart from informing my sponsor.

Thanks in advance!!

Regards,
Rajesh

Hello Rajesh

As you mentioned you have applied for your visa already and the application is being processed.

Once you have applied, you do not need to worry abt whatt start date has been given on your COS ( that is only a technical detail).

You can travel to UK only with a valid visa, so unless you get it before your start date, how can you even assume to be in the UK? As long as you get the visa, you should be able to travel any time after that. Please also make sure you add your timelines on the Tier 2 Out of Country thread as that can be helpful for you and others to understand prospective timelines for receiving the visa.

Thanks for your reply.

I was a bit confused as I read somewhere that date of travel should be prior to cos start date. So it needs to plan accordingly.

I would update the timescale post upon receipt of the details.

Thanks once again for your help.
