Depedent PBS Tier 2 general visa extension

Post by AS2020 » Fri Jun 05, 2020 1:55 pm

Hi all, I have a question regarding my wife's visa application. I am not sure which type of application I should use.
I have a tier 2 general visa and I applied recently for ILR. My wife has a PBS dependent on me and she has been in the UK for 2 and a half years only. She needs to extend her visa. Given that I applied for ILR, I no longer have a sponsorship letter from my employer. So, I am wondering which Route I should use to apply for an extension for my wife to stay in the UK?

Thanks.

Your dependent is dependent on YOU not on your tier 2 sponsor.

She applies for a 3 year Tier 2 dependent extension. You need 90 days maintenance funds of £630 per dependent.

Thank you. Does this mean when I choose the route of visa application, I would go through the following route:
Work in the UK
General work visa (Tier 2)
Family members
partner
PBS dependant partner
and then start my application as a sponsor to my wife?

Hi CR001,

I filled the PBS dependant partner for my wife, however, I have a situation that I am not sure how to handle.
Let me first emphasise that both our current Tier 2 visas expire by the end of July 2020. I have already submitted my ILR recently.

In the PBS dependant partner application, the HO asks for my details (I am talking about my details not my Wife's). Specifically, my leave to remain permit, which expires by the end of July 2020.

Then I have completed the application as normal.

The problem comes up when I try to pay for the Immigration Health Surcharge, after inserting full data, the amount required to pay is £200 only, which definitely is not correct as I need to pay for 3 years (400*3) £1,200. I have repeated the application twice and the same situation happens.
I am guessing that the Immigration Health Surcharge has been calculated based on the remaining period in my Tier 2 visa as my wife is dependent on me, which is due to expire by July 2020.
I am not sure what to do. I was planning to provide evidence of my ILR application with my wife's application, but now I am worried that something I am doing is not right.

Regards.

Put your expiry date as 3 years from now to get the correct IHS fee.

By the way, it has been assumed that you applied for your ILR based on you being 5 years on Tier 2. If for example you had applied for ILR on the basis of long residency, then your dependents will have to apply for the FLR type visa..
