Extend or switch visa application

Hi,
Currently, I hold a tier 2 visa. I want to apply for a tier 2 visa to work with different employer. Still not got any direct answer on this forum or in visa guidance docs. Can I use the visa extension route or visa switch route or any other route?

My question is simple and I hope for a helpful answer.

Thanks for your reply. Your message helped me but still I am bit confused with the wordings "make a new Tier 2 (General) visa application if". But Ok I will use the apply online link on the page mentioned in your post, and not this https://www.gov.uk/tier-2-general/apply.
