proving unmarried partnership for dependent visa

I am going to London for one year masters degree on Tier 4 student visa and i want to apply with my unmarried partner for a dependent visa so she can work. We are both from the USA and applying together. We understand that we have to show proof of living together for 2 years but we have been living and working abroad for the past 4 years and do not have any official documentation of living together because we did not have any bills and the flat rental was either in the name of our work or our schools while abroad.

We plan to apply and submit my work contract and school documents stating that we were both in the same country together and have a coworker write something to say that we were living together. We also plan to submit all plane tickets of travel together over the past 2 years and all other small things we can dig up.

Does anyone know of anyone else who has applied this way and received approval?

It does not sound like nearly enough. If you really don't have a paper-trail of evidence (bills, letters, citing a common address) then all you can do is apply and see what happens. Is your course provider a HEI?
