Right to work

Post by sahiljah » Fri Oct 21, 2022 3:22 pm

Hi Every one
I wonder if someone advise me.
My cousin is international student and a doing foundation course.
The uni saying he can't work more than 10 hours a week. Although his BRP saying 20 hours. The uni saying it is mistake by home office on BRP and then they will get a new corrected one for him
Never heard of home office making mistake on BRP! What should he do?
Thanks

If issue is with BRP, report it here - https://www.gov.uk/biometric-residence- ... rt-problem (unless university did; check with them if they applied for correction, as they might've, based on what you're saying, and if he can indeed only work 10 hours)

It's very common, so common that a process for correcting BRP errors is built into the system. It's clear he should have work conditions showing maximum 10 hrs per week during term time. See Appendix Student, para ST 26.1

Nothing. As he has told you, the university is already organising the correction. He just needs to wait and follow their instructions for getting a new BRP with the correct conditions.
