IELTS question

Hi All,

Had a relatively quick question. For the IELTS, do institutions require the General Exam being taken or the Academic Exam? I know that the structure of the exams differ ever so slightly but is it relevant which one you go for when doing a Tier 4 Application, in particular, applying to a college?

It would be a good idea to actually ask the concerned college itself as some colleges may accept "general test" and some may not.
