what happens to student dependent when main applicant switches to a work route

Post by el3oss19 » Mon May 29, 2023 10:59 am

Hi everyone,
I am in the UK with my wife, I hold a student visa for now until July 2024 ( so I still have a year and two months on it). My wife has a dependent visa that also has the same validity. I could secure an endorsement and I will now apply for global talent visa. My question is, In case I apply alone and switch visas from student to global talent, would my dependent have her current visa with me or it will be still valid until July, and I can apply for her next year before it expires?

Thanks

If your partner or children are already in the UK (extend or switch their visa)
Your partner or child can apply to switch their visa either:
This includes children who have turned 18 during your stay.

Many thanks Viny,
I actually saw that on the home office website.
The ambiguity is, when I switch from student to the work, would her dependent student visa lose effect? I have not seen an answer on this.

Your partner or child can apply to switch their visa either:

* at the same time as you apply to extend or switch your own visa
* at any time before their current visa expires
I do not give immigration advice. I refer you to Immigration Rules, guidance, other online content and to your sponsor.

It may be clearer, if you visualize an implicit exclusiveor”, associated with the explicit “either
