British or Irish Citizen?

Hi all,
Here is my story on behalf of my friend.
1. Child born in UK 2005, he obtained Birth Certificate that states born in UK
2.At the time of birth, both parents are illegals in the UK
3.The father became an Irish citizen last week.
4. What to do in other to get this child British or Irish citizen.
5. Is he entitle to British Citizenship or an Irish Citizenship? How?
6. The child has never travel out of UK since born 9 years ago.
What can he do to get his child his entitlement.
