Is there a limit on the stay for naturalized British citizen

Post by IndiMarshall » Sat Nov 21, 2015 6:40 am

Hi All,

I was naturalized in Nov 2014 and received my British Passport in Jan 2015.

I was an Indian citizen.

Due to personal reasons I have applied for 6 months tourist Visa to India in Mar 2015 and travelled to India in Apr... Now extended my stay for another year i.e from Aug 2015 to Aug 2016.

Is there a limit on the stay for Naturalized British citizen to stay in India.

I am not sure of my return at the moment. Is there any threat to my citizenship status of UK. Ideally Some day I would like to go back to UK for work.

Please let me know.

Thanks.

Is it must or imp??

Hello All,

I have another question further to argument above, what if you get citizenship / passport but later on you get some good job offer from abroad and you take that.

Is there any time limit for you to maintain your regular visits back to UK as you are British citizen ? , (i heard many rumours, that you have to come back every 6 months and one went even further that you might have to pay some tax in uk aswell).

I would appreciate if anyone can clarify that.

Regards.

No.

You obviously have to pay tax on all UK income anyway, whether you are resident in the UK or not. The government is looking at taxing company income overseas. But whether it will apply to individuals or not is anybody's guess.

Remember that UK taxation takes your "domicile" into account, not your citizenship. That involves guessing where you plan to settle in the future. And that takes into account your estate (both real-land- & personal-everything else). It even takes into account the place where your father was born and where you have purchased/booked a cemetery plot for yourself. So, acquiring British citizenship is not an issue because you may have acquired domicile in the UK already for tax purposes.
