Overstayed and application for British Citizenship

Post by Crysyal20 » Sat Oct 05, 2019 1:59 pm

I would appreciate if I could get feedback on my situation I face if I applied for British Citizenship. This is my immigration history:
* Came to the UK in 2002 - January 6 months visit visa.
* 2002 - May application for student visa approved 1year.
* 2003 - April application for student 2 year visa approved.
* 2004 - Life changing events occurred
* 2005 - student visa expired.
* 2005/2009 - overstayed 4 years.
* 2009 - April claimed asylum, refused.
* 2009 - August appealed Tribunal, refused.
* 2009 - October appealed Upper Tribunal.
* 2010 - June Refugees status given 5years. After long battle through courts on the same asylum claim.
* 2015 - June Refugee settlement ILR.
* 2019 - October. Am I taking a chance if I applied for naturalisation for British Citizenship now. Do I fall short of the 10yewr good character grounds.

You probably already know an application before June 2020 will most likely be refused for good character (supposing that is the only issue when you make the application). An application now will surely attract questions about how you supported yourself between 2005 to June 2010.

Thank you for your response.

Yes my overstaying is the only weighing factor in my case. With a strong family back ground and financially well off with in the UK to say. From 2002 to 2010 I did not need to take on employment. Which I can prove if they are to enquire me to.

So I trust an application put in now will be 50/50 chance of it been approved...
