BC good character issue

Post by Bilalo07 » Wed Oct 30, 2019 10:34 pm

Hello ALL,

Back in July 2012 I entered uk illegally, I lived here for 1 year with my girlfriend who I knew from before.
In July 2013 we got married and immediatly flew back to my home country in order to apply for a spouse visa.

Spouse visa application was made on 05/08/2013
But when I had to fill in the visa application form, I was being honest and i mentioned that I have entered uk illegally even the home office had no record of me being in uk because at that time I never got caught or finger printed by the police or the home office.

My application got denied because of not being A GOOD CHARACTER.

After 2 years, on 05/07/2015 i got my appeal and now back to uk.

My question is : am I gonna be penalized again for not being a good character when I apply for BC ?

Thanks to anyone who can clarify this to me

Well here are no absolutes but it’s likely your illegal entry will be taken into account when considering ur character.
Read the Good character guidance for further clarity.
As per my understanding- 2023

You have to wait for 10 years from the day home office became aware of your illegal entry before you can apply for citizenship successfully. Assuming all other requirements are met. In your case, you should only apply after 05/08/2023
