Passport not returned

Hi everyone,

I sent my AN application, along with my passport, by post on the 16th of March 2020. A month ago I asked HO to return my passport. On Monday (13/06/20) they sent me an email saying: "We can confirm that your passport xxxx was returned by 1st class Royal Mail to (my home address). As your passport was returned by 1st Class Royal Mail can you please contact the Royal Mail regarding this query."

I went back to them saying that I haven't received it yet and to confirm where it is and when will i receive it. Today, which is Wednesday (15/06/20), they replied saying: "As previously confirmed your passport xxxx was returned by 1st class Royal Mail to my address.As your passport was returned by 1st Class Royal Mail can you will need to contact the Royal Mail regarding this query."

I have now asked them to confirm what's the reference number so that I can check with Royal Mail. I am waiting to see what they say.

I am just very worried because supposedly 1st class Royal Mail should take one day. I hope it is not lost.

Has anyone experienced similar situation?

There is no reference number for 1st class standard post.

There are delays with Royal Mail etc too. My first class post is arriving after 3 or 4 days at present.

Unclear why you applied by post (which is for applicants who are not in the UK) when you should have applied online as then no originals would have been sent to HO.

Thank you. Hopefully I will receive it by end of this week then.

I didn't apply online because I didn't realise you could do that. Which is my bad as I haven't properly check the gov site since I was only communicating with immigration direct who told me to send the application by post.

Never mind what's done is done.
