Child Benefit £21.05 weekly

Post by Jack89 » Tue Sep 08, 2020 7:55 pm

Hi guys

I wonder if someone can answer. I’m a British citizen and have a child who is also British however my wife is on spouse visa. I’m working full time however she isn’t Woking at the minute as looking after the baby and we never claimed any benefits. My question is

1. If we claim this child benefit of £21.05 weekly will this class as a benefit to public funds?

2. Also when it comes to applying for ILR for my wife will that Child benefit Create an issue with my wife’s ILR application?

I’m new to the forum so would appreciate someone’s expert advice on this guys

Thank you in advance

If you claim it in YOUR name, it will have no effect on her ILR.
You should NOT claim in her name.

Hi there

Yes it will be claimed on my name as I’m British and they have asked me for birth certificate or Naturalisation documents so they can confirm that I’m British.

Also what is marriage allowance and will that impact my wife’s ILR application if we claim marriage allowance?

Thanks

Your spouse needs to work for this.

Your spouse needs to work for this.
Where do you read the "work" part? It's all about income, which can be 0.
