BC Application with duplicate employment entry

Post by Rambo_ILR » Fri Oct 02, 2020 9:56 pm

Hello

I applied for my BC in June 2020, still waiting for the result. I’m a bit concerned whether the below situation would cause any issue.

I became an employee of my limited company back in October 2017. And during this time my accountant enrolled a wrong employment start date, he tried to amend it to the correct date but unfortunately in HMRC system it created a duplicate employment for the same role twice by error. Worst part was it assumed that it was other employment and I took a salary for these two, which is not the case.

I briefly spoke to the accountant and with HMRC back in Nov 17 to get this removed from the system, and my accountant/HMRC verbally informed this needs to be done after the tax year end - through Earlier year update after April 2018. I thought he would have sorted this out. (My bad)

Just before the application, I checked my employment history and it was still showing those two duplicate records. He has totally forgot to sort this out.

I didn’t want to wait too long to apply for BC, so I went on with the application in June and submitted a letter from my accountant regarding the duplicate employment entry and what my actual salary was. (Same shown in P60 & SA Tax returns)

I have now submitted the EYU through the accountant to remove it from HMRC system. There are absolutely no changes/amendments to the tax return though. It’s still same as submitted for last 2 years.

Should I write cover letter and send to Home office?

Thank you
