Child born in Poland

Hello,

I am a dual Polish/British citizen. I was born in Poland and moved to theUK in 2005. In 2018 i have been naturalised as British Citizen. My wife was born in Poland, moved to the UK in 2008, she only holds Polish citizenship plus UK settled status.

She is pregrnanat now. Due to unpleasant experiences with NHS and the fact we have access to very good doctors in Poland we want our child to be born in a private clinic in Poland.

Could you guys tell me if my child will be automatically British and only require a passport in order to travel back to the UK or will we need to apply to register it as a British citizen first.
I must admit i am under the impression my child will inherit British citizenship from me becasue i have been anturalised but i would like to maske sure.

I appriciate any help.

As you were naturalised before the child's birth, the child would be a British citizen by descent and can apply directly for a British passport with proof of your British citizenship and the child's own birth certificate.

However, be aware that the child will not be able to pass on British citizenship automatically to their own children (your grandchildren) if they (your child's children; your grandchildren) are born outside the UK.

British citizenship can be transmitted automatically for only one generation outside the UK.
