Wait 12 months or apply straightaway ?

Post by ASEA331825 » Tue Dec 08, 2020 9:17 pm

Hi,
I just received my approval for ILR ( 10 yrs route) I have read on home office website that if I am married to British citizen and have ILR I can apply for citizenship straightaway and not to wait 10 yrs. is this true? My spouse got his citizenship in 2018 ( had his ILR (10 yr route ) in 2017. Does this make a difference or do I have to wait 12 months before I can apply?
Thank you in advance:)

As long you have ILR and your spouse is British, you can apply straight away as per Section 6(2) of the BNA 1981.
